Unfortunately the Kapten Plus has different internal hardware so can't be upgraded. I have the original kaptin. Can the original Kaptin be upgraded to include these new features? I haven't the money to invest in a whole new navigational device at this time. The lack of funds was why I chose to purchase the least expensive device in the first place. ----- Original Message ----- From: Paul Porter To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, February 14, 2011 6:04 AM Subject: [access-uk] Kapten Plus I am writing this from my personal email address but with my RNIB hat on. I have tested both the original Kapten and the new Kapten Plus. The Kapten Plus is significantly better in that it picks up a GPS signal quickly and has a free navigation option which tells you where you are. In free navigation mode it currntly tells you which side of the road you're on and what streets are around you. It doesn't tell you points of interest at this time. The voice recognition is very good but sometimes you need to repeat a phrase or command. We are looking at being able to provide a try before you buy scheme as we realise the Kapten Plus may not suit everyone's needs.
