[access-uk] Re: Jaws license annoyance, thinking of swapping to window eyes

Hi,

In fairness, since Window-Eyes 8, WE is now truly portable as well. You get
somewhat limited functionality, but you can install WE to a pen drive
without installing the video interceptor and it will talk, much like NVDA or
System Access, without an Off Screen Model.

Window-Eyes 8 will also now speak in Safe Mode. In fact any screen reader
will speak in Safe Mode if you hack the registry, but Window-Eyes allows you
to set it to do it within the user interface, so you don't have to be a geek
to do it.

And yes, before I get flamed for merely having an opinion, I am a dealer for
System Access as well. But most of the screen readers in my opinion have
strengths and weaknesses over others. The only screen reader I truly don't
get on with is Thunder.

I am also a blind user and consumer of this tech as well.

All the best

Steve

Well, now if you forget your dongle or lose it that, in all fairness,
is not FS's fault.

If win eyes works for you, so much the better. You may also want to
consider system access that has lifetime access and comes with a
portable version that you can take whereever you go and which, like
nvda, is truly portable.

Hope you find and can finance whatever works best for you!
