Andy, I am pretty certain that Open Office isn't really usable with any screen reader yet, even with the JFW Java AccessBridge. I don't know it would do any harm to install it as such, but neither will it benefit you, or at least I wouldn't think so.

Some upgrade though! Open Office is a pretty hefty download, unless it's some sort of "light" version.

Cheers,
Ray.

Subject: [access-uk] Java upgrade

Hi all -

I keep getting prompted for a Java update on my Vista laptop. Is it wise to go ahead and install it? It seems to come with a word processor and spread
sheet programme called Open Office.org, that it says is compatible with
Windows, and is easy to uninstall later; Some of these add on programmes we
know can cause problems with our screen readers etc, so does anybody have
any experience or advice regarding this upgrade and it's installation
please? -

Andy
