Hi Jackie,

Just to add, and this will be my last word, that your objective was also to
have the web site somewhat visually appealing as well. To do that on the
plethora of phones, tablets, PCs that people may use them on, we have to
create what's called an adaptive web site. This means it adapts to the
screen size you are using. Because of this clever software, the older
browsers simply can't cope.

That's about as simply as I can explain it. But we will do our best where
possible to make it work for as many people as possible.

All the best

Steve

As I started this thread by asking for feedback on the website Steve has
created for me with my input, perhaps I should offer the last word? As far
as I am concerned, Steve has done his best to create a website that is
accessible to "most" situations. The fact that people choose to use older
versions of Windows and Internet Explorer, or the limited capabilities of
note-taker browsers, isn't Steve's responsibility. Our objective is to make
the site usable and provide a purpose, and it complies in both instances.

So we don't clutter the list with unnecessary traffic, please feel free to
drop me a line off list if you are having specific difficulties, and I can
then liaise with Steve to resolve the problem as best as possible.

Thanks, and a happy new year to you all.

Kind regards,

Jackie Brown

Hello,
Jaws 1 would work with windows 8, but at the time it was made,
windows 8 wasn't out. But if it was, I'm sure it would work with
it.

Hi,

Trouble is, on that premise, JAWS Version 1 should work with
Windows 8? Or
any other screen reader for that matter? Try asking the
manufacturers for
that.

Hello,
Sorry, but I doubt, that those of us who like their devices, will
change. In
other words, xp and note taker users will likely not change, just
because
something is not working. They will either mobilise it, or will
find a new
resource. But at the end of the day, its not our choice, how
sites are layed
out.

 HELLO,
How about note takers? They may wish to read reviews. AND right
now,
only
 braille sense products can.

 Hi Jackie,

I'm trying to find out more from the Wordpress devs. Hang on in
there
folks, I'll try to figure it out.

But to be honest, XP isn't a priority. Microsoft don't support
it any
 more,
Freedom Sci don't support it, GW don't support it, so I wouldn't
lose
 sleep
 over it.

 Hi Brendan

For what it is worth, a friend of mine rang me last night to say
his
old
 XP
machine running IE8 wouldn't load the website either, so this is
certainly
 interesting feedback.
