Thanks Doris for those suggestions. I do have a version of NVDA on here, and will update it when the latest release becomes available. I haven't played with it much, but always good to have added back up. My experience with Fire Fox wasn't great when I tried it a couple of years ago, so I'm hoping this new set up performs well enough for my needs, but if not, then ...

While not working that well with the latest version of Firefox, jaws 9 works quite well wiht firefox 3.6, which is still being maintained at the moment. Support for ie 8 was not in the original release of jaws 9 but was only implemented in the later or latest builds. I forget what the build number is but it is the one you can donwload from FS's website now. its support of ie 8.0 is not as good as with later versions of jaws but you should try how you get on with it.
