I don't have Word on the DELL laptop but do notice from time to time that a
selection isn't announced. I just go ahead anyway . . .. I have never found
laptops quite as good with JAWS to be honest.
Have you tried other versions of JAWS by the way? Be sure the window is
maximised. You can quite easily run into a situation, without realising it,
and the window isn't maximised. I find reading can get problematic when you
have a number of programmes opened.
