Hi John,

Just tried ebay with the same set up as you and no problems encountered. So it might be as you said a virus of some discription.

Subject: [access-uk] Is anyone else getting this problem using JAWS and Ebay?

Hello All,

For the last three days (using JAWS 11 and Ebay) I have not
been able to interact with Ebay properly. I can navigate and
get displayed the Ebay Home Page but when I try to click
through to any subpage on a link to, say, place a bid or
view a product's description, JAWS simply ceases up and will
not speak. It appears that JAWS is either getting distracted
with something going on on screen and cannot successfully
succeed in displaying the page, although it appears to be
trying to cconstantly load the page, or there may be an
Ebay-specific virus problem I have picked up. I did at one
point receive a message from IE8 that IE had closed the Ebay
page due to a malicious ad-on interfering with things, or
words to this effect.

So, what I am thinking is,either I do have a virus or
malicious ad-on acting on Ebay or EBay's newly-adopted
policy of flashing messages up on screen constantly is
causing this. The messages, which are announced by JAWS
every second, are for the remaining time left before an
auction will be completed; but I have also had this same
problem when trying to view Ebay pages which are not part of
an auction so there should be no time left messages
flashing.

Does anyone have any ideas on this?

Additionally, will people check for me and see if they are
also getting the same problems as me on Ebay with JAWS or
any other screenreader?

Incidentally, the rest of my PC software seems to be working
OK and I am having no problems on other websites.

Thanks.
John.
