Anapod integrates the contents of your iPod into Windows Explorer/My Computer, and so is very easy to use. It's simply a matter of dragging and dropping tracks using the copy and paste functions. Until the JAWS scripts were written, the iTunes software was pretty well inaccessivle. When I first got my iPod I had to install iTunes in order to format the unit as a Windows (as opposed to a Mac) iPod. I don't know whether that's still the case. Of course, Anapod won't help you navigate through your iPod once you've disconnected it from your computer. I understand that it is possible to get some iPods to talk (though not the Shuffle) using the Rockbox software, which replaces the machine's firmware. As I understand it (and things may have changed in the past few months) installing this stuff is not for the faint-hearted. RNIB's Access-IT magazine ran a feature on this a few months ago, and I remember thinking that it sounded a bit too much like hard work.
