Hi Steve,
That's really interesting to hear. When I first read your post I was
thinking along the lines of someone having to just randomly move across the
screen and hoping they would find the right button, and hopefully the device
would have a two tap to enter system otherwise it'd all get rather confused
at the multiple inputs.
I'll listen to the podcast when I have a moment. I've only recently since
joining this list realised at how much information is available for the VI
via podcast, so I'll have to do some catching up on that side, I'm afraid.
Have you tried Bose's headphones? I have the on ear ones at the moment and
would be interested to see how they compare to the Audio Technica given they
are around the same price.

Thankks for your response. Actually, I have no useful vision in terms of
using the touchpad on the Ipod Touch. All I can see is if the screen is lit
up smiles. I'm not sure that the overall interface is as practical as the
music players on the simbian phones but if you are used to an ipod, I expect
it will be the same. I think the biggest difference for me is how much more
than a music player it really is. One of the best aps on it i found was the
weather for your city. So long as you connect up to your local wi fi then
you can put in your city and through yahoo weather, a very quick, sucsinct
report for the next 6 days comes up for you. It's awesome. I've had a
quick play on safari and found that a little cumbersome but usable. More
practice will improve usability. I think because you have to move through
in series the different buttons and options, that's what takes up time and
that's why it's more frustrating. I think though the sound quality is
better though. Certainly much louder and better on a train. I use some
slightly more expensive headphones buy audio technica which cost around £129
but the quality is awesome!
I haven't gotten onto the video yet but have a number of AVI films on my
hard drive which i'd like to export to the ipod. Have you listened to the
podcasts on blindcooltech? they describe in detail how to navigate round
the screen. It's unique and you do not totally have to rely on the actual
whereabouts of a button on the screen. Swipe left or right to move through
the elements and double click anywhere on the screen to activate it.
As to whether you should have one to replace an existing player? Hell yeah
why not. it's a great toy and so much more than a normal mp3 player. It's
actually got me thinking now of trying out an I phone! hahaha
