Hi Peter,
With respect, that's probably because you didn't take the time to learn
Symbian <Smile>.
For example, if Contacts is your sixth option in the menu, you don't have to
arrow at all, just press the menu and hit 6.
If you want the 11th option, hit Star, and the twelfth hit Hash. Bet you
didn't know that?
If you want the 20th option then life gets a little trickier, but start
arrowing up rather than down.
Also you can set up to 8 shortcuts on your phone, which can be accessed with
single keys, using the joystick and key1 and key2.
Because you really wanted to learn the iPhone, you did, and I respect that,
but people don't always invest the time to learn Talks and the phone itself.

I'd disagree and say it's a very good interface for the blind. The only
downfall is the typing but now that apps such as dragon dictate are around
that problem is solved. I can work much quicker using the iphone/ipod
gestures then I ever could with Talks, having to try and move around a
screen and navigate menus.
