  I think it's well worth upgrading.  OK, you don't get all the bells and 
whistles of the 4S, particularly Siri, but you do get some considerable 
differences and improvements and it doesn't cost you anything, apart from some 
time and maybe a few headaches as you back up.  Seirously, it seems fairly 
fullproof that you really can't lose everything, though you're strongly warned 
to back up etc.
