Phil, please upgrade to the latest build of JAWS 9. JAWS 10 is out, but only in public beta, so if you want to take that risk of trying beta software, upgrade to JAWS 9. Good luck.

Subject: [access-uk] Installing Jaws 8.02 on a Windows Vista home premium laptop

Hi,

Following death of aforementioned Toshiba laptop I have bitten the bullet
and bought an Acer laptop this weekend. The laptop is running windows Vista
home premium and I've just installed Jaws 8.02x and been told that I've
successfully authorized Jas. Having finished the authorization however I
quickly got a Windows message saying something along the lines of
"Application file for Jaws has stopped working. A problem caused the
program to stop working correctly".

I now get this message whenever I try and open jaws.

I've set the Display theme to windows classic, is there anything else I'm
missing or need to do?

Boy I wish I hadn't had to go to Windows Vista but it would've cost more to
go back to XP!

Any help gratefully appreciated as I've it up to here with Jaws and Vista
and laptops and all I want is something that works and means I can finally
get off this blasted desktop with it's own problems!!!

Frustrated, me? You don' say?
Cheers,

Phil
