You need to know what the current draw is from the hardware which you are
going to run from the supply.
You then need to work out for how many hours you would like it to keep you
going without mains power.
If, say, you were using a PC with total power draw of 200 watts, you would
need available power of 1 kilwatt to keep you going for 5 hours.
Having established the required capacity, then you go shopping.
The ubiquitous Maplin stock them.
In Google you could try:
Uninterrupted power supply
I am sure that several sponsored links will come up.
Also, don't forget to tick UK pages.
They are also referred to as UPS - I guess, though, that if you put this in,
you will bring up information about a postal service from across the pond!
