Just to keep you all in the picture ICEB (International Council for English
Braille), who chairman in Peter Osborne, are currently drafting a letter to
Apple, albeit in relation to the braille side of things. However, it all help
increase the awareness and importance of accessibility.

George.

I completely support Steve's view that we should act collectively as individual
Apple users and not leave it to charities. Apple are much more likely to
respond to customer wants and feedback because everything they do is driven by
solid business reasoning. Ten years ago I remember hassling Apple from the In
Touch seat to make the then iPod even a little bit accessible. I was told it
just wasn't on their agenda and nothing anyone could say would put it there.
In the end they did the sums and realised that for their communication products
there was likely to be a significant global market if they made them accessible
to all. I don't mean to decry what may be the well-meaning efforts of RNIB,
but they best they can do is feedback and humbly request improvements. If, on
the other hand, customers suggest that the market may be hit if changes don't
come, that's likely to be more effective.
