David, awesome! I’ve just tried this and it is what I want. I think they should mention this in help where it talks about the pass key through command. To be honest, I was curious why JAWS doesn’t have this feature already; they have thought of a keyboard lock mode after all, but a pass key through mode would be of more use IMHO.

Problem solved. Thank you David and Bobby.

All the best,

Amro

Hello

I think you will find that Jaws actually already has this feature  you are
interested in and has done so for some time.
1. Go to any YouTube page and start the video playing.
2. Press Jaws keys plus Z to turn Virtual cursor off.
3. Now pressing k pauses - j jumps back and l jumps forward - all without the
need to use the bypass  key combination.
4. Press jaws key plus z to turn back  to virtual cursor mode and normal Jaws
operation.

Subject: [access-uk] Ideas on a JAWS feature request - pass key through mode

Hello everyone and specially JAWS sellers,

I thought I would seek opinions on the following JAWS feature request before I
submit it to Freedom Scientific, and, if JAWS dealers on here get convinced it is a
good feature, perhaps they too can talk to F&S about it.

Pass key through mode:

Some well-designed applications and websites make heavy use of keyboard shortcuts.
So, I believe it would be very useful for JAWS users if F&S interduces JAWS
pass key through mode in addition to the existing pass key through JAWS command,
where one can toggle pass key through mode on, and it remains active until it is
manually switched off.

The following is one example. Some of Firefox Enhancer for YouTube™ shortcuts
are-

• ← and →: Seek backward/forward 5 seconds.

• j: Seek backward 10 seconds.

• l: Seek forward 10 seconds.

And it is really tedious to keep pressing Insert+3 every time to execute one of
the above commands. Also, say I want to go back 40 seconds, I press Insert+3+j,
but by the time I got round to pressing again
Insert+3+j to go back another 10 seconds, a 10 seconds would have
elapsed, bringing me back to the point where I have initially started.
Tiresome indeed!

What do people think? Any thoughts to develop this idea?

Best,

Amro
