hi John,

yes:
press the home button until you hear the quiet beep, and as soon as you hear it 
quickly press the volume up button
several times.
if you then press the home button to exit the Siri message the next time you 
press and hold the home button the beep
should be louder.
if it needs adjusting again to turn it up or down repeat the previous 
instruction and of corse you would use the volume
down button to quieten the beeps.
