Could be the batteries. But an I/O error is an im-put slash Out-put device error. If its not the batteries, then its perhaps in that the card is not a 2x USB card. In other words it's a slow card. This evening when I tried to do a BC File transfer, I kept getting an IO System error. This seems to be ever since trying to play an MP3 file last night, when I'd get exactly the same message from the courier when pressing play. I've tried a couple of formats, but alas to no avail. Does this indicate a corrupt Flash Card, or perhaps something needs to be done before or after formatting? My batteries were rather low at the point of transfer, so this could well effect the equation.
