Brian, Very many thanks. It would have taken hours to figure that without a manual! All done now. First, you will need to get the paper length in inches rather than centimetres. Setting the paper length is a two stage process, you first set the whole number of inches and then the fractional part. There are two settings, paper length 1 and paper length 2. Paper length 1 is whole inches and paper length 2 is any fractional part. Towards the right hand end of the control panel on the embosser, there is a button marked SETUP (it has SU in Braille as far as I remember) The embosser will echo Change Setup (a, b or c depending on which one is currently loaded) To the right of the setup key you have just pressed, there is another key marked Group Press this repeatedly until the embosser says Page Layout Just to the right of the Group key is the Item key Press this repeatedly until the embosser says Paper Length 1 To the right of the Item key is the Value key. The first time you press this, the embosser will tell you the current value, which in this case is the paper length in whole inches. If this matches the paper length, press the Item key once and the embosser will say Paper Length 2, if your paper is different, press the Value key repeatedly until it echoes the correct number of inches, when it does, press the Item key once Now press the Value key once which echoes the additional paper length, for example it might say one quarter or one half. Again, if this matches your paper length, press the Setup key to save any changes. If it doesn't match you paper length, press the Value key until it does. I know this sounds very long-winded, but it is much quicker to do than to write down. If you have any problems, please give me a call tomorrow between 9:30 am and 5:30 pm. Thanks. It must date from about 2002, has the serial interface and says "Basic 4.0" when it fires up. Is that any help? Paper size is 32.3cm x 28cm. Have altered the Brailemaker number of lines per page to 24, but think I probably need to alter some embosser setting too. Can't find the manual now, and would welcome some guidance please. Richard Richard Godfrey-McKay Telephone: 01738-445 880 Mobile: 07791 452 593
