Hi Tris, You are a little ray of sunshine aren't you? <Smile>. I would say upgrade. 8 is faster on my system, works well with Window-Eyes and JAWS 10, and I haven't come across a site yet where it doesn't work better than 7. All the best Steve -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Tristram Llewellyn Sent: Friday 20 March 2009 16:02 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: IE8 and jaws I would really hang fire on the IE8 thing now and definitely not at all unless you were a JAWS 10 user. Even then I would be very circumspect if you really rely on your browser. The IE8 development process has been controversial regarding rendering engines and standard compliance and has had many twists and turns to boot. If you don't want trouble I would wait until the screen reader world fully absorbs the final release of IE8 and digests what is working and what is not before jumping in. Many people including myself have been sitting on their hands on this one until things finally settled on a release. I will sacrifice a virtual machine to this shortly and see what is happening with it and JAWS some point next week. There is a real gotcha for XP users in that if they install IE8 and then upgrade to service pack three there is no way to return back to IE7. Regards. Also IE8 includes "in private browsing", meaning, in theory, you can do online banking without any traces left on your computer. -- Chris Hallsworth e-mail: christopherh40@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx MSN: ch9675@xxxxxxxxxxx Skype: chrishallsworth7266 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ibrahim Gucukoglu" <ibrahim_gucukoglu@xxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, March 20, 2009 3:24 PM Subject: [access-uk] IE8 and jaws Hi Everyone. Is anyone using internet explorer 8 with jaws? How have you found it and is it worth my time in upgrading? To what extent are the new features accessible.
