Hi Alex.

No problem, I use IE8 on both my xp and vista machines because its now being actively pushed as a critical update and in many ways it is. To get to the point though, on one of the toolbars, you'll find a compatibility mode button. Click this and it will emulate an older version of the browser IE6 I think for the purposes of running whatever website is causing you a problem. A good example of this is on the www.senditnow.com website which is a parcel courier service. When you get to the first screen requesting delivery details, you can't proceed because IE8 isn't recognised as a compatible browser. Hitting the compatibility button instantly resolves this problem and you can use the site as usual to complete your transaction.

I hope this helps.

Hi Ibrahim,

In answer to your message, I didn't initially think of
rolling back to IE7, but in view of George's message to
which I replied I thought rolling back to IE7 would be the
best action to take until all websites were IE8 compatible.

However, I would be interested to know how to activate the
compatibility mode on this XP Pro machine, as it may be an
easier solution for when I encounter any websites which are
not IE8 compatible.

Please note, that I have not, as far as I can make out,
encountered any websites that have caused me problems while
using IE8.

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Alexander Shannon
