David, to enable Pop3 on your account, do the following:
1. Sign in to Google Mail through the web.
2. Click the Basic HTML view link.
3. Click the settings link.
4. Click the forwarding and pop link.
5. In the second group of radio buttons, the one that talks about
enabling/disabling Pop access, make sure that enabled is selected.
6. Click the save changes button.
7. To configure your client, click the configuration instructions link.
8. Follow the instructions given for your client.
