My original comment was just a general one from the point of view of someone
who had tried NVDA but is a Fusion user currently who has used Jaws in the
past. However, I'll take your observation in to account if ever there's a
situation where I need to use NVDA in the future and try using it with the most
recent Windows Magnification, although I assume from the name of the product,
that NVDA was not initially designed for those who use both a screen reader and
screen magnification, as the name of the program stands for Non-Visual Desktop
Access if I remember correctly.

I would certainly give the latest magnifier in windows 10 version 2004 with
NVDA a try. People have said the magnification in windows is improving a lot
and could be comparable in future to paid offerings, even if it isn't
necessarily
at the moment.

I agree. NVDA is now as good as Jaws in my experience, to the extent
that I sometimes switch from the mighty Jaws to NVDA on some
benefit.or when using some programmes because it performs better in that
instance even though I have the latest version of Jaws installed.
Also, the last few releases of Jaws didn’t offer any real new
features or enhancements that warrant the upgrade price tag in any
way possible. I have an up to date SMA but lately I’ve been tending
not to bother with the new Jaws releases because I don’t see any real
because I was one of those victims of the Jaws incomparable elusion.
Finally, I would say two things: First, Jaws remains an important and
a very powerful screen reader no doubt about that, but no matter what
the argument is, the price isn’t justifiable. It is not right that a
Jaws licence is perhaps comparable to a NASA software!
And second, I urge people to contribute, if they can, to free screen
reader projects such as NVDA; I regularly do. It is important to keep
those projects alive for everyone’s benefit especially if one of us
is actually using that free alternative.

reside in developing nations, like myself. The concept of open
source screen readers is intemperately advocated for from ethical
perspective. Freedom Scientific takes advantage of the Jaws
stereotype, so they could sell further licenses and extend their
technological ascendancy per say, as farther as they possibly could.
Their marketing team convinces colleges, that in order for their
visually impaired students to perform well, they must buy Jaws for
them. Thence, Freedom Scientific essentially relies on orders given
by enormous organisations, as of colleges, popular associations for
the blind et cetera. However, if they would have relied on the
actual user, they may have ended up losing a fortune. Also, the
concept of open source screen readers is a decent alternative to get
rid of the moral crisis of tolerating software piracy, as to those
who couldn’t afford buying a genuine copy. I unfortunately used to
be one of those who copied and used Jaws illicitly. I reposed my
conscience for quite awhile. Now, I halted doing that. I was one of
those who were quite cozened about Jaws and its unvanquishable
stance. I urge Freedom Scientific staff to sternly redress their
current situation. Despite its popularity, Jaws is factually now
clobbered with unrestricted alternatives. People at Freedom
Scientific must recognise this reality and deal with it. Many people
including myself, do not have the motive to buy Jaws, as long as its

Couldn’t Freedom Scientific be breaching such crucial contract? I
