Well, at least I understand when to use, even if I can't quite visualise it. -- Carol carol.pearson29@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxOn Sunday, July 20, 2008 7:54 PM (UK time), Kevin Lloyd at kevin.lloyd3@xxxxxxx said:
Hi Carol. Most cases where I've seen merged cells is when inserting headings and longer descriptive text. If you can imagine that typing "Household budget spreadsheet" in a single cell it's either going to make that particular column inthe spreadsheet very wide or it's going to wrap and not look good. By merging 3 cells together the heading can sit nicely over thecontent of the spreadsheet without affecting any of the columns below. Regards. I mean, I understand that's the case but why do you want to do it? What does it achieve? -- Carol carol.pearson29@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx On Saturday, July 19, 2008 2:39 PM (UK time), Chris at christopherhallsworth71@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx said:Hi, it's where a group of cells are "merged" together into one cell. Anyone explain it to me, please?Hi all,I am currently creating an excel spreadsheet and require to merge cells. The problem is that JAWS does not speak the contents of merged cells, just the row or column name and merged cells, even though I change the setting in the verbosity settings to merged cells off, as soon as I exit the settings it still speaks merged cells, and when I go back into the settings, merged cells is on again. Where's my hammer! Any help much appreciated.Dave******************************************************************** This email and any attachments are confidential to the intended recipient and may also be privileged.
