Hi Jackie, glad I’m not imagining things! *smile* I thought it was you who
had the problem but wasn’t sure. I’ve done what you suggested but
unfortunately it didn’t work. This enforces what I read online yesterday
that Alex doesn’t work on iPhone 5 and older models (mine is an iPhone 5).
Oh well...

No you're not dreaming, I think I posted some time ago that I had this very
issue. In the end, I had to reset my settings and Alex appeared once I did
this and rebooted the phone. I know it is annoying, but give that a go!

Unfortunately Alex is still not showing under
settings>general>accessibility>voiceover>speech>US English. All is there
under US English are the options of default and enhanced quality. Turning
the phone off and on didn’t solve the issue.
I’m pretty sure that there were others who had this issue too. A fix was
posted to the list some time ago but I can’t find it now. Am I dreaming?

go to settings, general, accessibility, voices, Alex is under US English.
read what it says about Alex and then there should be a button to download.
Alex may not end up in your rotor so you may have to Adam to it and you may
have to turn your phone off and on again after the download.
