Sincere thanks to all who have taken the trouble to offer help on this matter. I thought it best to avoid cluttering the list with individual replies, but all contributions were much appreciated. After careful consideration I feel it unlikely that I have a serious problem but one or more of the additional scans suggested might be a wise precaution. I will also check with Webroot Support to see whether the suspected cause within Spysweeper is being corrected in the next release. Incidentally for me a Download Manager is still essential as (for several reasons) I am still on a dial up connection which usually fails after around 30 mb have been received.
