I guess the fact that social services can provide the services themselves and not necessarily through direct payments is the reason why we are seeing different processes available around the country.

Yes, they must fulfill their duties, but it's still possible for them to
do that using the grant I mentioned. For example here in York we have the
Disabled Facilities Grant. Like I say, not all of them are using the same
processes or names for the grants they offer.

Yes Peter, your right, some councils are reluctant to change, but obliged by Law to fulfil their duties, if asked...By 2012 all VI people must have 
been assessed and have our needs met.  Christine.

Behind the times? I can't know everything! However I did get a grant
just a few months ago so perhaps not all councils are using the same
process.

Apply for SDS and ask for help with specialist equipment.  This is
the Only way I know of doing it and it worked for me.  Christine.
