Hi Christen.Well, I've been thinking along the lines of asking whether I can spend some of my social care fund on a colourino as it could be useful in identifying clothes before I put them in the wash or when they come out of it, so your experience has certainly given me a little more confidence to do this.

Hi Ibrahim, your quite right, this is exactly the same process as I went through--I was told, after I'd already found out myself, that the council were obliged to do it this way, by Law, but not all will follow the correct guidelines. I am actually getting direct payments in leu of vouchers, a scheme the councils are trying to phase out, but I insisted on me getting the same this year as I only require 4 hours per week so far, my need was with help to fund a DBC at over ten thousand pounds. I'm so happy I insisted on my rights as I couldn't live without my DBC. In Peterborough, I had to apply to the adult social care team who came and performed a financial assessment and helped me do all the paperwork, the funds get paid to me by the primary care trust in to my nominated (though separate) bank account.
