I know you think the volume is up but, just in case ... To ensure volume is really up, try reading a whole screen using the two-finger flick up and, as you're doing so, hold in the volume button. See if it works. It happens to all of us from time to time.

Hi

I have an iphone 4S, use VO and have not yet updated to IOS8.

Two days ago VO stopped speaking and I have been unable to get it started again.

So far have tried, with sighted help, the following:

3 finger double tap to switch mute on and off. No result.
Maximise volume on handset with left hand side buttons. Max volume, no voice.
5 presses on the Power Button to do a soft reset. No result.
Switched phone off and left for a period and switched on again. No result.
Gone into settings and checked VO is enabled, all seems correct.
Asked Siri to switch VO on. He says it is already on.

Does anyone have any other ideas on how to get VO speaking again please?

kind regards
Robin Davies
