John, Have got that message before from you so trust all is well in computerland with you! Okay, while I'm on, to stop then is it the spacebar? Just at the beginning of the thread I joined I should have said that to cut surplus intros and to extract and copy pieces from such as Brian Hartgen's radio show, documentaries and the like. Cutting out beginnings and copying pieces of interest to me is what I want really for now. Thanks again. Cheers, Tony Sweeney ----- Original Message ----- From: john coley To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, October 13, 2010 5:12 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Help with an MP3 file Hi Tony, that's right. Set the markers on each end of the part you want to cut, then go to cut and press enter on it. Another little tip. If there's a section you want copied, instead of setting the markers and clicking copy, then pasting it a quicker way to do it is this. Set the markers at beginning and end of the section, then go to the edit menu and you'll find an option Save select region as. Press enter on that, delete the name it's automatically put in and put in whatever name you want, then save it. Then, you can go to the edit menu and you'll find a submenu called insert file. Go in there and there are three options, beginning, current and end. That tells the programme where you want the file inserted. Choose an option and press enter. Another screen will come up, but it's just a confirmation, so just click OK. Another thing you can do is to mix files together. I can't think of a time you'd want to do it, but you can if you want to. Just go to the place you want the file to be mixed with another one and click on mix file in the edit menu. You'll get a browse window. Browse to the file you want to mix and press enter. As with the insert option another screen comes up, but just click OK. Let me know how you get on, John. ----- Original Message ----- From: tony sweeney To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, October 13, 2010 4:38 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Help with an MP3 file Hi Andy & John, Well I've gott to playing an audio in Wavepad and even had some fun with playing slow and then fast options! Yes practice I guess now. Now I also entered on first position and on second position and the record still plays so presumably I go to cut is it? Should I get that one right then that's me for now! Press the application key, and arrow to edit with wavepad sound editor. Hit the enter key to select this option, and wavpad will open, it might take a few second to load, then press the space bar to begin playing the file. go to the menues to make your selection for what you wish to do with the file, most of what you need will be under the edit menu. I played a song which is in that same folder, hitt the apps key but while it saw Wavepad it wouldn't do anything for me! I wonder if I should move Wavepad to a different area? As far as help files go I don't think there is one, but it's simple to use. There are only a couple of options that come to mind that someone not acquainted with audio processing may not understand, but as the majority of options are self explanatory one wouldn't be needed. Most people would have come across terms like cut, copy and paste. To use those options you just treat the audio as if you were editing text, using the markers to set the area to be affected. I've never found a programme which does as much as it does in as straightforward a way. I promise you, you won't have to learn to use it as you may audacity or goldwave. Incidentally, andy's post reminded me of something I hadn't mentioned. Open with Wavepad should be on the context menu of your audio files. Let me know how you get on, John. It really is a simple point and shoot programme. ----- Original Message ----- From: tony sweeney To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, October 11, 2010 4:59 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Help with an MP3 file Hi John, Perhaps one final question from me on this. Is there a Read Me file with it and how good do you find it? It's a great little programme. When you first install it it'll work as the pay version, till the trial time for the pay version is coming to an end, then you get a popup inviting you to buy the pay version. If you say no it carries on working, just disabling the extra functions. That doesn't make much difference though. All of what you'd generally use is in the free version. I use it a lot to edit stuff downloaded from IPlayer, to cut off the surplus. All you need to do is to set the markers at the beginning of the section you want to cut, press enter and it's done. You can also copy and paste blocks in the same way. You can also super impose one file over another using the mix file function, and insert a file at the beginning, the end or current position. The only slight negative I've found with it is moving backwards or forwards. It's quite slow. Good luck with it, John. ----- Original Message ----- From: tony sweeney To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, October 11, 2010 4:28 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Help with an MP3 file Hi John I too am interested in that programme. I presume you copy the file you wish to edit from in to Wavepad and work away as you described earlier? To do what you describe, saving a section as a separate file do this: 1 Play or fast forward to the beginning of the clip you want to save. On the edit menu go to set first position and press enter. Then play or fast forward to the end of the section, go to the edit menu and press enter on set second position. Then go to the edit menu and press enter on save select region as and press enter. Give it whatever name you want and save. John. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Barbara Wilson" <barkingbabs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, October 10, 2010 1:38 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Help with an MP3 file > Hi John > > Will give it a go and get back to you if I need further help? > > > Find me on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/barkingbabs > Barbara Wilson > M: 07917710779 > T: 02887784046 > E: barkingbabs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > IM: creativeeyes@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Skype: creativeeyes > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "john coley" <johncoley@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> > To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Sent: Sunday, October 10, 2010 1:13 PM > Subject: [access-uk] Re: Help with an MP3 file > > >>H Barbara, wavepad will do that, and it's extremely simple to use.
