Yes it does. Just haven't a clue what happened. One minute it was talking and then when I went to read a text message, there was no speech.

Not to state the obvious, but does this persist if you restart the phone?You didn't accidentally disable Talks within the Talks application? If so, from what I know the only way to restart Talks would be to navigate your wayback to the application and enable it again.
