Hi Tim,

Don't know if you have solved your problem yet, but if not, which
operating system are you using. Tricky to advise without knowing.

George.

Subject: [access-uk] Help initialising an external hd

    Hi,

I'm having a problem installing a new samsung hard drive and external
caddy

I've fitted the disk in to the caddy, and connected it to the pc via
usb.

Although I received the sound indicating a new device has been
detected, the drive isn't showing up under my computer.

It does however appear under disk management, as disk1 basic rather
than having a drive letter assigned to it.

Upon reading up a little, I gather the drive must be initialised,
however I'm unable to select it in order to do this.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim.
