That's what I understand too but it's possible for a system to give you audible warnings whenever you stray off course instead of constantly nagging you when you are on course. I would at least like to see an option to provide continuous audio like this either when on or off course.

Hi Paul,

As I understand it, the noise lets you know if you are lined up with the
shoreline, kerb in this case. it could be very useful if done properly.

I can't comment further as I haven't seen it.

All the best

Steve

Absolutely. The sound of galloping coconuts as described. Not sure why
this continuous noise is thought to be necessary. Noises to warn you of
problems, yes, but not noises when everything is OK and nothing is
happening.

The recorded article makes it clear that the system is at the research

more work to do, there is also the possibility that it never becomes an

authorities and others have to apply navigation beacons everywhere.

Hmm!

Sounds interesting, particularly as I'm struggling with new routes in

There was no mention as to whether this would ever be available to the

around! Has anyone heard anything about the cost or whether it will be
released for any users in an everyday situation?

Hi Barry

Yes, I heard a piece on Radio Ulster about this over breakfast this
morning.
What they didn't mention was the cost involved, both to GDBA in
partnering
it, and the user. It sounded interesting though I have to say.

Kind regards,

It's a shame it only works with the Windows mobile, but this looks
pretty
good otherwise.

A headset that guides visually impaired people around cities has been
developed by Microsoft and charity Guide Dogs.
