Enjoy your trip to Maplin then, and hope you find something suitable.
Ideally, I would want to try them out on an MP3 player or with familiar
music before I bought, but it isn't always feasible to do that. And
provided the shop allows you to return them if you really don't like the
sound or comfort, then it's not so bad.

Ron did not get back to me so perhaps his phones don't wrap. I'm going
into Glasgow tomorrow so will check out Maplands. Incidentally, because I
need to wear a skip bonnet to keep the light from my eyes, I cannot wear
overhead phones. In any case, I'd look pretty daft eh, as opposed to
looking very cool, hahaha.

Oh! that doesn't sound too clever with Hi-Fi Corner does it? I've only
bought headphones from them, and haven't had any problems personally.
They do come over quite condescendingly in the Edinburgh branch, but I
ignore that.
Hope you get something suitable. I currently use a small pair of JVC
headphones that go round the back of my neck as opposed to over my head.
They aren't bad, and I've had them a long time, but I find them useful
when I don't want to mess up my hair when I'm out! (smile.) Don't worry
Andy, it's a woman's thing. (smile.)
I do have a pair of fold-up Sennheiser headphones too that go over my
head, and they are really nice.
Maplin definitely have them though as my son saw a whole rack full of
them when we went in there recently to buy the same hard drive you got.

Ron Searse, I think this is how you spell his name, has a pair of
Sennheiser headphones for sale, down from £60 to £45. If they wrap,
then I may well be interested. Thanks for getting me to think of
Maplands in Glasgow. They are a great shop and this is where I bought
my 750 GB ex hard drive for just over £100. With regards to Hi Fi
Corner, well, a couple of years ago, I bought a surround sound system
from them for about £5.000 and after they visited and set it up, I found
that I could not get it to work. They charged me about £150 for setting
it up and suggested that perhaps because of my sight, I had changed a
setting in the complex menus. I had to go to Trading Standards to force
them back to put right the problems I was having, so hi fi corner can go
fly. So hopefully, Ron will get back to me tonight telling me that his
phones wrap around the back of your head and I'll probably go for them.

I'm sure Sennheiser will do the job if you can find a pair that go
behind your head as opposed to over it. Perhaps you have already
thought of and tried Tapesense? Also, Maplin sell them, but I'm not
sure if you can try them out there.
Since you live in Scotland, I would highly recommend Hi-Fi Corner,
branches of which can be found in Glasgow and Edinburgh. You can
definitely try them out there as I've done so and purchased in the
past.
My favourite make - but don't know if they do them in the style you are
looking for - is Beyerdynamics. Expensive, but oh so worth it!

around, like they wrap round the back of your head. I'm looking for
something special and will pay up to £150. I was thinking of Boswwave
but cannot find anything using Google for the UK. I also find it
easier making a telephone purchase as I've not quite got the hang of
on-line-shopping. So if you have recently purchased a nice pair of
high end phones and would recommend them, then please let me know.
