Well presumably because they recognise that there are those people who have
lost their vision but used to be able to hand-write.

Gave this a go on my iPad today with my sighted lad. It's accuracy is not
one hundred per cent and, suspecting this might be my poor letter shapes, I got
Scott to have a go and he had similar results. I'm also curious to know why
they put this in the Accessibility settings suite instead of making it more
generally and obviously available.

Yes, this is a feature from I O S 7 that can be quite fun to use. I
opened my phone app, selected the keypad tab and dialled a number
using this function! Awesome!
