hey that brings back memories vocal eyes heck it makes me feel old. i must say
though i would be very interested to see the new el-braille if i can or should
i say when i do win the lottery which should i purchase the el-braille or the
new braille note note taker. also very soon i think a new compute stick is
coming out what a diference hhow things were then. i think mo said he would
tell us on the list when the new compute stick comes out. all really very very
interinsting as one of my loves is portability which all this stuff.
as i have said before it's great to have the best but still i do love my good
old braille sense mini which today i showed to a piano tuning customer at
darton and she was amazed. so, if i have jaws which i have surely the
el-braille will be much the cheaper option than the braille note taker. all
very interesting stuff.
if sheff wed win the play offs that will be a start for my funding.

Hi Steve.
I did buy Vocal Eyes in the end, many many years after anyone respectable
had moved away from dos ininchuckles*, however i could never get in to it.
Ditto JAWS for DOS too, which only worked with the Apollo synthesizers, not
the Juno as it didn't support the Juno power management features. Hal was a
memory guzzler though, the installer for Hal 4 took up something like 190
kilobytes of conventional memory, which when you consider you only had 640
kilobytes to play with was quite a chunk. Hal 5 rectified that, as did
Vocal Eyes by using extended memory, however, now I'm rambling so I'll shut
up LOL.
All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi,
It was, but I soon found out that GW Micro's Vocal-Eyes was way better,
because you didn't have to do so many settings to make it speak
automagically.
Those were the days.
All the best
Steve

Hi Mike
Hal for DOS was fantastic at the time, especially with WordPerfect 5.1. How
could you forget all those Environment files and those synthesisers we had?

Hi Jackie,
He certainly edited it for a while. He's a very friendly fellow and would do
anything to help us. I was privileged among others to have used the very
early versions of Hal when it was called PC Speak.
Cheers,
Mike

Hi Mike
It seems he had something to do with both Hal and the Vincent program. He
started the Access IT magazine off at RNIB as well I think.

Hi Jackie,
It was Paul Blenkhorn, an incredibly versatile programmer. I believe he's
up in Manchester now. Mike Townsend might be the man to ask.
