I agree with regard to people having the same interest that a Guide Dog list can provide help and support. However, I wonder if in this particular case, the gentleman was wanting to target a wider audience of visually impaired people and especially those without guide dogs too and even sighted members. I know we have now dealt with the topic on this occasion as it would appear the gentleman in question is going to receive the support he requires and that is good and I am sure we would all want to wish him well.

If in a rural area or in a place where the council do little to maintain the pavements, the jumbo tip would be better use than a normal roller I believe.-----Original Message-----From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf OfPeter Beasley Sent: 04 December 2008 10:47 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Guide Dpog complaints You don't live round here. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Nutt" <steve@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, December 04, 2008 6:40 AM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Guide Dpog complaintsHi Peter, Neither does a roller tip if you use it right. Now I am of the opposite view point. I hate a white stick, it gets stuck in the pavement and above all I feel 'blind' with it. My Guide Dog is my eyes and that is for true. You have an evening bag to go out somewhere special (least I do), and an ordinary bag for day-to-day purposes. Now you need a guide dog for the city, and perhaps another dog with a different temperament for more sedate strolls? You're having a laugh!! (chuckle). Frankly, it's why I would never ever have another guide dog if I werepaid millions, because there are too many rules and regulations, and thedog always seems to be right in the eyes of the Association, not the owner. I've heard time and again from people that the standard of dog training has dropped. Each to their own, of course, but give me the white cane any day of the week. "So people like me, who have a little peripheral vision, are walking about with dogs, which can in a flick of a second, get us killed." But those people witn no sight at all, must surely be at more risk! i feel the mista\ke you have made is to make threats. I mean you said you: "Made a lot of noise and threats about seeing a lawyer" In another post you said you were told: "it was not quite a good idea to take my dog into Glasgow during the festive season stating that the streets were very busy at this time of the year." Well given GDBA said that, I feel that's proof they are taking your safety seriously. If they feel you are not able to manage very busy conditions, they will not recommend you do it.
