Ah, another thought, if you're using a screenreader, it's possible that it's not clearly pronouncing the I at the front of "igoogle", which is pronounced "eye google", as in "eye pad" , "eye phone". So it's possible you were hearing something that sounded very much like "google is closing down". In which case, I do understand how the confusion arose!
