[access-uk] Re: Goodmans DAB Radio with speaker, an excellent radio at an excellent price!

Hi Ibrahim

I get some stuff on FM, but not brilliant if I am being honest.  And as for
DAB?  I get nothing whatsoever, and I even went outside and stood in the rain!!
(smile.)  Looks like this one isn't going to work out for me here, though I
have no doubt it would work elsewhere.  I always have a problem with DAB.  A
nice radio though, just the job for a pocket while out and about.  For me, the
Pure Move is the best, but the real shame is not being able to change the
battery on it oneself.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Brown

Hi Jackie.

Firstly, remember to fully extend the Arial before attempting tuning for the
first time.  It is probably also a good idea to stand outside in an area with
an unobstructed view of the sky.  Remember, if you're using headphones, you
won't need to use the built-in Arial as the headphone wire will be used as a
substitute antenna until you disconnect them.  Are you getting any luck with FM
stations by the way?

All the best, Ibrahim.

When mine first autoscanned it pulled in no stations on DAB in west London
which is normally a good reception area.  The second time achieved better
results with getting on for a hundred stations.

Hi Mo and Ibrahim

I now have the back off, battery inserted, and charging the unit.  So far
though I have received no DAB reception, only FM.  We live in a really
poor DAB area, so this may not work for me at all, but I'll try for a
while.

Thanks for all help.

Hi Jackie.

It's not that difficult to prize the back cover off, but don't be afraid
to use a little force, especially the first time you remove the cover as
it will be quite stiff.  I've removed the cover of my radio a couple of
times since to loosen it a little, since I plan to carry and use a spare
battery from time to time.  persist, perceiver and you won't be
disappointed.  If you aren't able to prize the cover up, use a flat headed
screwdriver and slip it in to the upper most groove when the radio is on
it front on a flat surface.  Good luck!

I received mine this morning, and the sad and frustrating thing right away
is that we can't get the back off it to even insert the battery.  I have
never seen anything so tight or awkward to remove, it just shouldn't be
that difficult.  We have both tried to take the back off, but it won't
budge!

insert the battery against the contact holes and push firmly
