Hi all, we think it's a problem with the line now. Why? Since we removed one of the extension cables, including disconnecting the filter, the broadband is lightning fast now! I downloaded all 202 messages in a matter of a couple of minutes, for example.

There could be a fault with the filter. Not the sort of thing that you
wanted to hear but I have had this happen to me before.

Regards.

Hi all, I bought the extra filter today for our kitchen, and the line is
still crackling! I doubt it's made any difference really, but won't know
till one of us downloads something. What else can we do? My dad's thinking
of calling BT on another landline phone to see if it's a line fault or
something. The broadband is absolutely fine; it's just the line now. Thanks
in advance for the help.

Hi,

It depends on how the phones are connected.

I think it is probably best if you describe as much as possible how your
phones are connected, in relation to the sockets and extensions. Also, are
the extensions wired to the master socket, or are you plugging in separate
extensions?

Andrew.

Hi, we don't have a phone; we have an extension instead. So I don't need one
then?

Yes you do if you plug a phone into it.

Hi, we only have one phone , which is downstairs. The rest are extension
points. All the filters are plugged into them, however we do have an
extension point in the kitchen. So do we need to buy a filter for the
kitchen? Thanks for the help so far, I'm also noticing the speed is
fluctuating. As I say these are probably just temporary problems and will
be fixed on time. Thanks again for the help, and take care.

Hi,

The reason you hear the crackling noises is because you have a connection
issue with your filters. Do you have filters plugged into all the phone
sockets in your house where a phone is located?

Thanks.
Andrew.

Hi all, we're finally on Sky broadband. However, when my dad tries to ring
out we hear a crackling kind of noise. Do we need to buy another DSL
filter? Also, as I'm connected via wireless there's a slight delay with
audio streams. Is this because Sky's still making final adjustments to our
setup? I must say it's a very good connection and the wireless hasn't
dropped once yet. Thanks in advance for answering my question.
