Hi Mo

You're a star, very many thanks. Why do companies love
complicating things?
(smile).

hi jackie.

by default in GMail, you don't receive messages you send to
groups.
they're not sent back to you. there used to be a work around
you could
use, but it doesn't work on all accounts. the work around
used to be
putting recent: before your username but this doesn't work
for me and on
other accounts i've tried it with. GMail however does put a
copy in sent
items, and tells you if your message isn't sent by sending
you an email.
in other words, if you don't receive an error, you can
assume if your
message is in sent mail that its been sent. long winded, but
probably
the only option we have. also, i'd recommend using imap.
your changes
are syncronised between all your devices, and any folders
you create in
outlook are automatically created on the account. with pop,
that isn't
the case. the changes are only saved on your local computer
and not on
other devices. i hope this all makes sense? i'm typing this
in a hurry,
but if you'd like any clarification please let me know.

cheers,

Mo.
