Hi george.
I for one have found discussions relating to locks relevant even though
strictly speaking they're not on topic if you're considering the access tech
angle. There are for example smart locks that are controled by your smart
phone, I believe fireboxx were selling one at one point. So that brings it back
on topic it could be argued. I totally agree that if a topic like guide dogs
and coffee machines is discussed, you have every right to stop those
discussions, the list traffic has been quite a lot of late. In the past on
groups that I've moderated, we have allowed tech related, related being the key
word discussions to a point then sent out a warning to stop the thread if it
gets too off topic. In terms of totally off topic threads, we put out a warning
straight away. A balance needs to be set. If you aren't lenient enough, you
will risk people leaving and not receiving the information they need. On the
other hand, too much leniency obviously has its problems as well. I so far
admire
the stance you have taken in that you have not been teritorial if that's the
right word and too harsh with members. Moderating a list can be a huge
responsibility and quite an arduous task. If you would like me to assist in
moderation, I would be more than happy to do so. Drop me a note off list to
discuss further. The list can be made an excellent resource if we revise the
guidelines slightly to warn members.
Cheers,
Mo.

I don't have the details to hand, but there is a VI-GEN list where
domestic and household issues are freely discussed.
Perhaps some kind member could post the details please?

Hello,
But then again, there are many lists already for technology, and are UK
based, BCAB, to mention one. So where should one ask about coffee
makers, (don't drink it!) (smile) washing machines and all that, that
are UK based?

too.
Hi,
See this is where the difficulty is. I would consider this off topic
But does that mean this will turn into a general chat and advicelist?
I am coming round to the idea that we should stick to access tech.If
that is so, then I won't announce products on here which are notwhen
strictly access tech related.
All the best
Steve

Hi List
At present we use a lock with spinning tumblers to lock our cases
we go on holiday but they are not accessible at all for blind people.
Does anyone know if there is an accessible lock for us to use.
My wife usually does it for me but I am travelling abroad without her
in December and wondered what you good people do when you go onholiday.
