Hi Richard,

It’s not depriving me of business, I offered to upgrade the firmware for free,
other than the cost of postage.

Go into the app, then it should say something like Drag To Update.  It’s not
the most friendly, but it kind of works on iOS, if you double tap and hold
where it says Drag To Update.

If you can find out the IP address that your E2 gets from the router when it
connects, you can also connect to it using a web browser on a computer, like
this:  http://192.168.1.15, where that is the IP address of the E2.  Then you ;
can update a bit easier on a PC.

To get the IP address, you may need an app like Fing which is the one I use on
Android, I don’t know of an equivalent for iOS to get the IP addresses of all
your connected clients.

All the best

Steve

Just did the firmware update on my GGMM E2 and it's working again, but it's
probably going to need some sighted guidance to do it.

Hi Jackie,

I agree.  I would also point out that if you bought it by credit card, and
for some reason Amazon didn't give a refund, your credit card company
probably would.

But I still like this speaker, which is why I contacted GGMM several times,
the E2 anyway.  I am not so keen on the E5.

Hi Steve

Actually no! as I just posted, the update from GGMM hadn't filtered through
to the list when George and I helpfully gave Pele some suggestions.  At that
time, your update from GGMM hadn't been posted so I think it was quite
reasonable to raise the issue of refunds!

Aren't we getting this a little out of proportion?  GGMM have now come back
and said it is a problem at their end.  Software happens.  Probably Amazon
changed the APIs so that the speaker couldn't work.

By all means go for the refund, but my interpretation of the message I
forwarded this morning is that they will fix it in about a week.

You don't go for a refund when an Echo Dot doesn't answer your questions
straight away, do you?  Amazon services were down one day for about five
hours.

I agree, GGMM could have come back quicker, but they have now.

Hi Pele,

This comes under the Consumer Rights Act.

You appear to be within the 6 month period where you should be able to get a
full refund for goods which do not perform as advertised.

I would suggest you contact Amazon immediately and explain the situation.
Try to ensure you keep details of precisely when you called, who you spoke
to, and if possible some form of reference which you can refer to later if
needs be.

If they fail to assist, one would hope that your Local Trading Standards
people would be prepared to take the matter further.

George

I bought my GGMM E2 speaker in April from Amazon. How do I stand on the
question of the guarantee?
