The group advises on physical and intellectual access to the whole range of museum services. It also ensures that resources are used effectively. Now, Colchester and Ipswich Museum Service wants to establish a disability access advisory group based in Ipswich. Would you like to work with Ipswich Museums to advise on: - Developing touch tours/handling sessions and other resources for visually impaired visitors? - Sign language events/facilities and other resources for deaf/hearing impaired visitors? - Facilities and access improvements for people with mobility disabilities? If you are interested in helping Colchester and Ipswich Museum Service make its museums more accessible to all, then please come along to Ipswich Museum, High Street, Ipswich, on Wednesday, 17th December 2008 from 10.30am - 1pm. Please register your interest by calling Sophie Weaver, access officer on 01206 506937 or emailing sophie.weaver@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx You will have the opportunity to meet members of PORTAL, the Colchester based group, hear their experiences of working with the museums, ask questions and learn how you can be involved in future projects at Ipswich Museums.
