Hi Peter,

Yes, you don't want Select To Speak turned on ever if you are running
Talkback, they conflict.

Select To Speak is an accessibility feature for sighted and low vision
people, that reads out text that is highlighted only.

All the best

I have nailed down the problem now. I had "select to speak" turned on. Now
that is disabled all is well. This both in terms of reading reliability by
units and the keyboard tending to switch too readily between right handed
and left handed etc.

Hi Peter,

The only thing I can think of is that maybe you are accidentally touching
another part of the screen, instead of doing a full swipe?  I've done this
myself.

It has to be a definite swipe.  If you take your finger off, or swipe
heavily, you can move focus by accident.

All the best

That is frustrating. I find it happens when I am trying to read out a phone
number quite a lot as well as words within messages. I have a Pixel 1 but I
don't suppose that makes any difference.

Using Android 10

When reading by character I sometimes find that the focus jumps to another
section mid sentence or word. Does any body else experience this?
