Hi Phil I'm using Sygate purely because that's what my mate, who is much more of an expert than me, put on my computer when he set up my pc. It's not easy to use with Jaws but I can manage. Once it is set up to automatically check for up-dates, all I need do is edit the firewall when it kicks in. Otherwise, it just runs in the background. Barry, Good advice however it leads me on to ask which firewal you're suing as it sounds like you get on with ok and Jaws. I've got Zonealarm or rather a sighted friend put it on and i don't dispute it's good software for what it does however not the best with Jaws. What are you using and why did you choose this as opposed to all the others out there? cheers, Phil ----- Original Message ----- From: "Barry" <bbinc@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, August 02, 2004 4:02 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Freeserve broadband questions. > Hi Andy > The most useful advice I can give you is to download a firewall and update it before you go on broadband. When I connected my broadband modem to the net there were five attempts to scan my computer within the first second. The tiscali web site I downloaded my update for the modem even tried sending me a virus. Luckily, I had a firewall installed. Within five minutes, the firewall stopped twenty attacks. > > I can't actually help you with anything else as I got someone with site and knowledge of pc's to install it all. > > Barry H > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: andy logue > To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Sent: Monday, August 02, 2004 3:43 PM > Subject: [access-uk] Freeserve broadband questions. > > > Hi all. > > I have just applied to move from Freeserve Anytime to broadband.
