Hi Isaac,
Alt+P won't work as it is already assigned to the Playback menu. Here's how you
do it:
Control P for Preferences. Go to the keyboard shortcuts section. Tab to the add
new button. Hit space, then shift+tab back to the list of current shortcuts. Go
down to the new one you've just created. Tab to the treeview, choose what you
want the shortcut to do, like play for example. Then, in the edit field, press
the hotkey. I use the letter X for my play shortcut, as I've got used to Winamp
hotkeys. Then tab to the OK button. Test the key, it should work just fine. Of
course then you can create your other hotkeys in the same way.

I try to learn how to use this player I found a useful tutorial at:

Many things are reasonably straight forward but I have a problem with the
basics namely the shortcut to play pause next track previous track etc.
Searching the internet, I found that in early versions this was built in
(similar to the Winamp x, c v etc) but this was dropped as far as I
understand from later versions (mine is the latest stable)
I can do all these from the menu but this is not of course practical.
Looking at Preferences > shortcut keys, these commands are not in the list
of built-in shortcuts there are about 12 instead of the 30 or so in earlier
versions.
I know how to add my own shortcuts following the tutorial above but the only
action I can find of the above (and there 80 or so possibilities) is play.
When I add it to the shorcut list for example Alt + p for play it does not
work.
I found the following list of shortcuts here but the relevant ones here do
not work they only applied to earlier versions I think.

I obviously doing something wrong and would appreciate help.
(does the screen reader JAWS 10 blocks relevant keystrokes?)
