Thanks for that. So really it is for multimedia purposes? So why would a site 
which does not offer any media experiences use flash?

  What a question *smile*.  Well, if you use the BBC IPlayer, YouTube and about 
a dozen other popular websites that blind people visit, you'll not be able to 
access the multimedia content that is offered if you disable flash.  Of course, 
that comes with a stick in that there are many websites that detect if you have 
flash installed or enabled and then present a totally inaccessible or very 
difficult user experience, for instance the Nokia PC Suite download page.

    Hi All

    I'm not a technical expert, so need some advice. 

    As a JAWS user I mostly have JAWS set to ignore flash on webpages, unless 
it is necessary to change the setting to access the full features of a Website.

    I was wondering what are the advantages of having flash on a Website? Are 
they purely esthetic or are the advantages more than cosmetic?
