What is the reason for not installing it? It is fairly ubiquitous and
installed on 99.6% of computers worldwide and the download size is
under 1 mb.

Its use on sites for the blind is often for streaming audio and for
allowing the use of access keys, to overcome the fact that some
browsers don't support access keys.
