Brendan,

I am a fan of Wilbur Smith, these books are large in memory on Daisy and
would take a lot of memory on your card. I use my flash card to keep
several books on and music should I fancy a break or my journey time does
not allow a decent time to get into a book. However, I appreciate you can
get a lot on a 4 gig FC in plain text.

Good luck with what ever you choose to do and enjoy...!

Christine M.

Hi Christine,

Thanks for your suggestion of using an external hard drive for building
a book library.

My thought in wanting to keep copies of all books on flash cards is so
that they can quickly and easily be accessed. This would be rather like
having a shelf of books from which I could just pick the one I wanted.
Of course, each flash card would certainly hold several books, not just
one. This, I think, is the nearest I can get to having a print or
braille library.

I don't want to get into a position where, every time I want to listen
to a book, I have to copy it to a flash card. This means having to use
time for copying files from place to place and is potentially more
difficult to keep track of. I want to be able to use my spare time for
listening to books, not for sitting in front of my computer copying
them. I've worked with computers for the past forty years and I've had
just about enough of them!

But your suggestion of using the external hard disk as a backup device
is a very good one. I hadn't thought of doing this and I'll certainly
give it some serious thought now.

Many thanks for your suggestion.

Cheers,

Brendan.
