Hi Steve. Oh, totally agree with you. I once asked their second line support people why upgrading the firmware wasn't possible, I was told in no uncertain terms that firmware upgrades should only be carried out if instructed to do so by support personnel. Also, three's policy is to only release firmware updates to correct major bugs in the software or to add "significant enhancement" to the operation of the phone. To be fair to three though, I used to have a 6120C phone with them, I was able to download a firmware update to enable the support of HC memory cards as the phone when released could only support up to 2GB natively with the release firmware at the time. All the best, Ibrahim. ----- Original Message ----- From: Steve Nutt To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, August 23, 2009 10:48 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Firmware Hi Ibrahim, This is the fault of Three. Because the phone is branded with their firmware, you can't get an update, until they say so. Branded phones are spawn of the devil and the reason I always buy Sim-Free, even though they are more expensive. I have an E71 on three, I've been unable to update the firmware since I bought the phone back in December of 2008 although I've tried repeatedly. I'm still running 100.07x and the software updater keeps telling me that there are no updates. The firmware was released at the beginning of this year. I wish Three would crack on with this.
